The Clairestone Inn (formerly LaAuberge Acadienne Inn) on the Beautiful Island of Isle Madame will open for Business in June.

The Clairestone Inn in Arichat, Richmond County, Cape Breton
New chapter begins for La Auberge Acadienne Inn in Arichat. The Inn came under new ownership in February when Shauna Landry former resident of Arichat moved her family back home to take over this lovely Acadian Inn. The 17 unit Inn which has gone under massive renovations, will now be known as the Clairestone Inn.

Owner Shauna Landry who is also the founder of City Girl Cakes in Halifax, said the move was prompted by a desire to return home after the death of her mother Claire, after whom the inn has been named. Landry wanted to return to roots, become her own boss. She states that she always had a love for the Inn and had a dream of one day owning it. She felt she could revitalise the Inn and make it an important part of the Acadian Community and an important part of our tourism Industry offering a beautiful location for visitors to the island. The Clairestone Inn will offer a friendly and home like setting for those travelling in Richmond. Landry is in the process of obtaining the liquor licence for the bar, and she plans to open it with a pub-style menu, and she will be offering guests the option of a hot or buffet style breakfast.

The new owner noted that one demographic she wants to specifically market the Clairestone Inn towards are motorcycle riders. Landry wants to offer visitors a place where they feel relaxed and at home. Landry who enjoys riding her motorcycle plans on doing some marketing directly towards motorcycle riders. They are a great group of people and I think there’s a lot of potential in tourism through motorcycle riders.”

The Inn is located on a French Island so it is an advantage because we’re bilingual, which she hopes will draw a the high number of visitors from Quebec who frequent the area, as well as visitors from across Canada and the US and Europe. Apart from a unique culture, another advantage of the area lies in its natural beauty, which Landry added she now appreciates much more at this stage of her life.

Isle Madame is an amazing place for kayaking, bicycling, motorcycle riding, getting away from the chaos of everyday life, t’s so quiet, and the people are friendly.  There are places to eat and during the summer there is lots to do, music, and festivals to enjoy.
