Come Celebrate Valentine's Day At La Picasse - The Perfect Way To Celebrate With Your Valentine!!!

With Valentine's Day Quickly Approaching, here is the Perfect Cookie For Your Valentine.

Here is an amazing cookie recipe for Raspberry Linzer cookies one of my friends gave me: This is the perfect cookie to prepare for Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened

1 cup white sugar, divided

2 eggs, separated

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

confectioners’ sugar

1/3 cup ground almonds

1/2 cup raspberry preserves

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter.

Gradually add 2/3 cup white sugar, beating until light and fluffy.

Add egg yolks, one at a time (keep the egg whites for later), beating well after each addition. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Shape dough into a ball; cover and refrigerate for 30-45 minutes or until firm.

On a surface dusted with confectioners’ sugar, roll half of the dough to 1/8-in. thickness (I made some of my 1/4 in for extra thick cookies). Note: When the dough first comes out of the fridge it might seem a bit hard and crumbly when you roll it. Don’t freak out like I did!!! It will become less crumbly as you work with it.

Cut with a Heart shaped cookie cutter. Brush each cookie (even the ones with the holes) with egg white. Combine almonds and remaining sugar. Sprinkle all cookies with the almond mixture.

Place on greased baking sheets (I put mine on Silpat). Bake at 350 degrees F for 6-8 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Spread raspberry preserves over the middle of the plain side of solid cookies. Don’t go all the way to the edges or the jam will ooze out the sides

Enjoy your gorgeous Raspberry Linzer cookies with your Valentine!

This year The Nicolas Denys Players will presents "Electile Dysfunction". Just the name of the show alone should create enough interest to bring out the crowd to see what the Villages talented theatre group is preparing for their audience. The show this year will centre around Disney World offering to set up a state of the ark theme park in St. Peter’s. The only problem with this offer is that St. Peter’s has to become a town in order to fit with Disney’s plans. Not wanting to miss out, St. Peter’s plots their course of action and 8 residents vie to become the mayor of the new town. Want to see, how this turns out, make sure to get your tickets before they are all sold out.

There is a limit of 4 tickets per person, and they are only accepting cash payments for ticket sales. *This play is intended for Adult Audiences, viewer discretion is advised, plus there will be a cash bar available.

All proceeds from the production will go to the Nicolas Denys Museum. The Village of St. Peter’s is so lucky to have a dedicated group of citizens who band together each year to create this production,  so theatre goers get to see the finished product, but it takes a lot or work to pull something like this off. The group of writers, actors, directors, meal prep and meal servers, etc. do this production out of love of acting and love for their community, hats off to all involved.

So make sure to come out and join your friends and family for an evening of fun and laughter. They say laughter is good for the sole, so do yourself a favor and take in this amazing show,

Owners of Hens & Honey are very excited to finally launch their farm  business. And we are happy to share this statement released about their  new business.

“My name is Ashley and my partner in life and crime is Matt. We run a small, built from scratch homestead in River Tillard, Richmond County, Cape Breton. We aim to share some of the products that we produce from our land. We sell fresh eggs and raw wildflower honey as well as handmade, natural cold processed soap (When in season, of course).

We are currently in the down season right now but keep watching because the busy season is almost upon us. Stay tuned to my page on Facebook, as we will be sharing our journey and showing you things that happen around here, most of them are fairly entertaining.  Also follow us on Instagram @Hens_and_Honey”
Stay tuned for more up-dates as we approach the tourism season on this exciting new business, where home grown is always appreciated. Buy local and support your local businesses.
