Philosophy Café at the Cape Breton University

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Cape Breton University launched its Philosophy Café on Friday, November 12 from 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at The Pit Lounge. The Café takes place every second week and is open to the general public as well as the university community. “Topics tend to be topical, so some issue of current interest which has a philosophical, moral or social dimension,” said Dr. Andrew Reynolds, Associate Professor of Philosophy, School of Arts and Social Sciences, Cape Breton University. “But more traditional topics may also be dealt with, for example capitalism vs. socialism as the appropriate economic model for society.” Stephen Hawking has recently claimed that science can account for why the universe exists without recourse to the notion of God, leading some to ask: Are Science and Religion Compatible or Essentially at Odds? This discussion will be led by Dr. Andrew Reynolds on Friday, March 4 at 2:30PM – 4:00PM at 1250 Grand Lake Road in Sydney.
