Jam Live Entertainment at the St. Peter’s Lions Marina, 32 Lions Avenue. Bring

Tuesday, August 2
Youth Sailing School at the St. Peter’s Marina at 32 Lions
Avenue, St. Peter’s, will take place between August 2nd to 5th, come and join
the youth sailing school at the St. Peter’s Marina for children age 8-12.
Registration is limited. Call Jennifer at 902-631-1451 to register. Cost: $100

Tuesday, August 2
1:30PM – Nicolas Denys Days’ Village Scavenger Hunt. The St.
Peter’s Village Commission hosts the Village-wide scavenger hunt. Prizes will
be awarded. (Weather Permitting). Location: Village Kiosk in front of the Post
Office. Cost: Free. Time: Registration 1:30pm (return before 5pm)

Marina. This event will take place every Tuesday in August, Destination Cape
Breton and the CB Music Industry Cooperative bring us a free outdoor concert
right in the heart of the Village! This Tuesday, our headliner is Steve
MacDougall, with Steve MacIntyre opening. Cost: Free

Denys Street in St. Peter’s. Hosted by the St. Peter’s Community Club, explore
three centuries of history of St. Pierre, Fort Toulouse, St. Peter’s Canal, and Nicolas Denys. Tea, coffee, and
snacks provided. Cost: Free.
Wednesday, August 3
4PM – Wednesday Night Sailboat Race at the St. Peter’s Lions
Marina in St. Peter’s. Hosted by the Wallace MacAskill Yacht Club, this is a
fun summer race series in Jackson Bay. Visiting boaters are encouraged to
participate. Cost: Free (Donations to WMYC are welcome). Time: Registration
4:00pm • Skipper’s Meeting 4:15pm • Race starts between 4:30 and 5:30pm
depending on skippers and wind!

6pm – Newcomer Welcome Trivia at the Bras d’Or Lakes Inn at

Dr. Kingston Memorial Community Health Centre, this year’s picnic will include

number of teams registered. Proceeds go to the new St. Peter’s Gym! Cost: $250

Sunday, August 7
1pm – 5pm: - Swim the Canal 2022: Far from Ordinary…. Be
Extraordinary. Our sixth annual “Swim the Canal” event has become an
extraordinary community tradition of fun, festivities and celebration. There
are two swim options, enter in the world-famous Bras d’Or Lake through the St.
Peter’s Canal National Historic Site, ending at Battery Provincial Park beach
on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. You
can swim the length, 800 meters or the width, 100 meters from Battery Park to
the canal wall and back All swimmers receive a monogrammed “Swim the Canal”
towel to acknowledge their accomplishment. Swimmer info available here.
Spectators welcome. Come cheer us on. Be one of the growing list of
extraordinary individuals that can say… they swam the length of a historic

Hosted by The Village on the Canal Association. Location: On site registration
and check-in for those pre-registered at Battery Provincial Park beach, St.
Peter’s, 1:00 pm. Cost: $20 per person when you book before August 7th or $25
if paying on the day of the Swim. Conditions: The admission cost ($20) is to
cover insurance, lifeguards, washroom facilities, musicians, t-shirts for
volunteers etc. and a “Swim the Canal” water bottle. Any profits from the event
usually go to VOCA to help fund community events and charities. This year any
profits we be set aside for a charity to support Ukrainian refugees. An online
waiver is required to be acknowledged during registration or signed during
manual registration. Swimmers acknowledge and accept the risks involved in this
particular adventure tourism event. We encourage the slow swimmers to start
first to minimize the overall time in the water.
