Alice Received Standing Ovation

Alice and her Reflection in the mirror

The Magic Garden

Youngsters from the Port Hawkesbury Ballet Class

Friday June 3rd, the ballet "Alice", based on the stories of Lewis Carroll, was performed by the Ballet Bras d'Or at Strathspey Place. The production was delightful. I was amazed at the professionalism of the whole production. Everything went like clockwork. The choice of music, of Saint Saens and Rimsky Korakoff, Pink Floyd, Vivaldi and Prokokiev were excellent. The backdrops of scenery and the costumes added a Broadway feel to the entire production. The original choreography of this production of Alice, by ballet instructor Diane Lambie, was excellent. And the ballerinas performances were spectacular. The novice dancers portraying flowers were delightful, enjoying every minute they were on stage as they fluttered and danced their way into the audiences hearts. The senior dancers did an incredable job bringing the story of Alice to life. Rachelle Aucoin, who played Alice, was perfect in her protrayal of the character, and hats off to Katlynn Van Tassel as the Red Queen, Leah Mambie as the Mad Hatter, Briana Covey as the Queen of Hearts, Nicole Meagher as the White Queen, Hailey Fraser as the Cheshire Cat and Jessy Watson as the Rabbit, for doing such an amazing job in their roles. At the end of the evening the cast received a standing ovation from the audience, which they and their instructor, truly deserved.
