Saltscapes Does Cape Breton Proud

Did you get your copy of the Saltscapes Spring/Summer 2011 Magazine? Cape Breton Island definitely received some great publicity and rightly so. It makes me feel so good to see the island mentioned in these well read publications, to know that word about the island is spreading. In this segment of the magazine there are two articles one on our golf in “Great Golf”, Cape Breton is home to six fabulous courses by Dale Dunlop. It talks about the Highland Links, Bell Bay, The Dundee Golf Course, Le Portage and the two new additions The Lakes in Ben Eoin and the Cabot Links. In the article the Cabot’s course is described as the only true links course in North America. Cabot will open 10 holes on July 1st and have the final eight ready for next year.

In the second article by Sandra Phinney is “Our People are our Wealth” the riches of Richmond County, Cape Breton. The article mentions our Ceilidhs, our people and the communities River Bourgeois, Arichat and St. Peter's and our attractions. Phinney also spoke to Sharon Chilvers owner of Grandma's Bed and Breakfast in River Bourgeois, about her work on The River Roundup, a local newspaper which keeps residents as well as former residents up to date on the happenings of the area. Phinney also talked about Chilvers community volunteer work, of course that is not news to us, as Sharon is well known for her very active involvement in the local community organization and works very hard to promote the area. Great stuff, if you get a chance to pick up a copy I would recommend it.
