The Highland Village Scotch Music Series Continues on Sunday September 22nd- guests Danny Graham and Glen Graham

Scotch Music Series Continues at Highland Village

The Highland Village Scotch Music Series celebrates the contribution of Nova Scotia Gaels to world fiddle music. The next event in the series will be held on Sunday, September 22 at 2 pm in the Tuning Room at the Highland Village in Iona.

This 2013 presentation is in memory of Alex Francis MacKay, Gaelic fiddle stylist of Kingsville Inverness County. This year’s presenters will be Danny Graham of Judique and his son Glen Graham, well-known fiddler and author of The Cape Breton fiddler. Father and son are nephew and grand- nephew of the late Alex Francis, an accomplished Gaelic-speaking musician who exemplified the island’s Scotch music tradition.

The presenters will recall house sessions of past years, discuss the Gaelic music of Cape Breton and play tunes representing the tradition as a unique fiddling style internationally.

This special event is included in the general admission to the Village. For more information call (902) 725-2272, or email highlandvillage@gov.ns.ca
