Another Successful Year for the Cape Breton Paddlefest, See You Again Next Year.

The 4 Annual Paddlefest has completed another successful event. Approximately 40 paddlers from around the province came into St. Peter's to take part. The organizers of the Paddlefest surpassed the expectations of the attendees. Tim White of Rising Tide Expeditions who has been the driving force since Paddlefest began, was joined this year by Angelo Spinazzola of North River Kayak, Eberhard Witt of Kayak Cape Breton and Cottages, Michelle Richards organizer of the Point Michaud Surf Classic and Surf instructor for the Recreation Department for the County of Richmond, as well as members of Nova Scotia Paddling Association, who assisted with the running of the event.
The paddlers who attended were treated to music on both Friday and Saturday evening, and enjoyed presentations and guided tours both in the bay and at Point Michaud Beach as well as on the Bras d'Or Lake, with a special tour provided by tourism operators at Potlotek. Mi'Kmaw tour guides took a group of the paddlers out around Chapel Island and then the group were treated to a meal. All in all the group had a exceptional time in Richmond with even the weather co-operating with mild temperatures.  Thanks to all the paddlers for taking in the annual event and to the organizers for all their hard work to make the event a success, and to the Bras d'Or Lakes Inn for making everyone feel so welcomed.
