View of Richmond

The 2011 Canadian Nationals Racquetball Championships are coming to Antigonish and Port Hawkesbury. These are the first Racquetball Nationals to be held in Nova Scotia since 1979. The Championships will take place at the Racquetball courts in both locations; in Antinonish at St. F X Universary and in Port Hawkesbury at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre from May 22 to 28th. The first competitions will be starting at 8am on May 22th. For the first time ever participants will be able to enter two same gender doubles (one age division and one skill division, or one gender doubles and one mixed doubles). The Championships will take in a number of dividisons, Men's Singles, Men's Age Singles, Women's Singles, Women's Age Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. This should be quite a Championship with anticipation of lots of action taking place on the courts and off the courts as well, as there are lots of events planned for the partipicant's enjoyment. Event Director for this event is Daniel Smith. For this championship the Ball is Ektelon Classic Black and the event is sanctioned by Racquetball Canada. Start up times for first round matches will be available on line at http:/racquetballchampionships.ca after 7pm on Saturday May 21st. For any particant that does not have internet access, the information will be available by calling 1-902-483-2499. From all reports the organizers are expecting an excellent turnout.
Entertainment on the local scene:
On May 21st, a Musicial Jamboree will take place at the Rocky Bay Community Hall featuring the tremendous talent of J.P. Cormier and friends. A silver collection will be taken at the door. Must be 19+ to attend.
There will be a Merchandise Bingo held at the Tara Lynne Centre in River Bourgeois on May 22 starting at 2pm.
The Kitchen Racket's open jam session will take place on Sunday, May 22 from 4 pm - 7pm at the MacBouch Restaurant and Lounge on Grenville Street, St. Peter's. No cover charge, bring your instrument along or just come and enjoy the music.
Mark May 25th on your calendar for an evening of enjoyment, as you take in the Musicial Production of Annie Jr. The budding young stars of the East Richmond Education Center will take to the stage as they bring this rendition of Annie to life. The production starts at 6pm. Admission is $5.00. Come out and support the hard work and committment of these talented young artists and their instructor.
